Alliteration: “go, good” (first stanza); “deeds, danced” (third stanza) “sang, sun” (fourth stanza); “learn, late” (fourth stanza); “see, sight” (fifth stanza); “blinding, blind, blaze” (fifth stanza) • Assonance: “age, rave, day” (first stanza); “blaze, gay, rage” (fifth stanza) • Metaphor: “good night compared to death” (first stanza) • Oxymoron: “blinding sight” (fifth stanza); “fierce tears” (sixth stanza) • Simile: “blind eyes could blaze like meteors” (fifth stanza) • Repetition: “Rage, Rage”
My Thoughts • The main message is that life is a precious thing that should be cherished and fought for • This poem really spoke to me because although it is speaking of how quickly death can come and has a feeling of sadness, it also shows that we should fight to live and enjoy the life we have
