  3. Origin of Katrina Started as a tropical depression southeast of the Bahamas on 23.8.2005 25.8.2005 Katrina became a hurricane of the first category she has brought lots of rain and some high speed winds up to 140 km/h 26.8. rised up to a second category 28.8. at 2 am she reached 4th category

  4. - couple of hours later she reached 5th category , with winds over 250 km/h - people were told to start evacuating the city - 29.8. Katrina strikes coast of Louisiana at 5 am , 100 km east from the New Orleans - four hours later hurricane came into the city and brought destruction

  5. Consequences 1800 people died , 700 are missing 80% of the city was flo0ded one million people lost their homes completely devastated coastal areas in some cases over 200,000 homes were demaged or destroyed

  6. oil spills in southeastern Louisiana, which resulted in over 7 million gallons of oil being leaked destroyed 30 oil platforms , 9 rafineries total property demage was estimated around 120 billion $ reduction of population in 100 000 it took two months to vanish water from flooded areas
