Please refer to the Simonds Daily Schedule for recess and lunch times. • Parent volunteers – Please remember that you must complete the district-required emergency forms and get fingerprintedbefore volunteering in the classroom or at school. Thank you! • Please see our ivolunteerlink (from the Simonds homepage) if you are interested in volunteering in our classroom! • MONDAY ENVELOPES: Please return Monday Envelopes Tuesday mornings inside the green bin! 2. Walk a Thon Walk a Thon information is being sent home THIS week inside your student’s white envelope. Please read the information carefully and see me if you have any questions. It sounds like it is going to be a BLAST and a great way to help fund our Music and Technology Foundation! See you there  Scholastic Book Club Scholastic Book orders have been placed inside your students’ white envelope this week. You can access the Book Club by using the code in your welcome letter (attached to the book order form). I will NOT be accepting any checks or orders at school. If you would like to place an order, please do so online. For every book ordered, we gain classroom points to build our own library! • Classroom Webpage • Remember, you can access my webpage through the Simonds Home Page online. This is also the best way to access the adaptive learning sites through “Student Links!” With the district driving us all toward equipping the students with 21st century skills, we are implementing a new homework program this year in first grade. Your child will be using District Computer Applications in their weekly homework activities. Soon we will be adding a web-based program, Ticket To Read, funded by the PTA. These problem solving activities are a perfect way to address Common Core Standards and will prepare your children for the new wave of learning and testing they will face in their academic careers. I will be sending home more information regarding Ticket to Read in the upcoming weeks. Ticket to Read is the online program that students will begin using once they have completed Level 9 on Lexia. I will let you know when your student should be working on T2R. Math Facts in a Flash is up and running! If your student is unable to work on this at home, it is because they have not “passed” the initial addition assessment on MFIF. We will be working on this in the computer lab again this week. I hope you had a wonderful weekend with your families! Please feel free to see me before the morning bell or after school. However, it is best to send an email to set up an appointment… just in case!  Thank you and have a wonderful week! Sincerely, Miss Rebecca Tucker rtucker@sjusd.org
