  1. “With spy cameras in trees, rocks and even logs ... - Cowboys go hi-tech on crimes “ BY: OLIVIA KRUCZYNSKA

  2. Poaching -The word poaching is used in the article when Mr. Booth describes the criminals stealing or killing the stock on his farm. “Mr. Booth, who runs a vast cattle station at Wyandra, south of Charleville, now has eight cameras in trees and has used the snaps to prosecute three people for illegal poaching. `Poachers had been giving the whole area a fair hammering. They were cutting fences and using the place like it was their own,' Mr. Booth said. `Everyone knows that the cameras are there now so they stay away.”’ -Illegally hunt or catch (game or fish) on land that is not one's own or is under official protection -Poaching is used in other instances when criminals steal or kill protected animal life. For example, Poachers illegally hunt protected elephants for their tusks, and tigers for their fur.

  3. Surveillance -The word surveillance is used in the article to describe the new hidden cameras in the article that record evidence of criminal activity for prosecution of poaching. “About three weeks ago, Mr. Jones started selling surveillance cameras alongside stock feed because of the demand.” “David Sanders from Farm Cam in Brisbane said farmers had a better rate of prosecution with surveillance cameras than people in the city because the cameras were so well hidden. Property owners hope that the surveillance will not only act as a deterrent, but unmask the perpetrators so that they have solid evidence in court. “ -Close observation, esp. of a suspected spy or criminal - The word is also used to describe police men on watch for suspects. For example police men wait in their cars closely watching someone suspected of selling drugs is on surveillance

  4. Evidence -The word Evidence is used in this article to describe the information caught by the new camera to prove a criminal is guilty. -The available body of facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid. “A trial of the new technology in the southern police district - which takes in Dalby, Warwick, Toowoomba and Charleville regions - caught 62 people on 140 charges using camera evidence, including a Forest Hill man who stole and butchered six cattle for pet mince. “ “Property owners hope that the surveillance will not only act as a deterrent, but unmask the perpetrators so that they have solid evidence in court. “ - The word evidence is used to show proof in many other situation. For example, in Science evidence is used to prove a hypothesis, in Math it is used to prove an equation is true, and in English it is used to prove a thesis
