  2. STOP…LOOK…LISTEN LESSON FIVE • Today’s Lesson: Preparing to Teach and Preach • Theme: Motivated by Jesus’ preparing Himself to do His work • Memory verse: Luke 2:10-11 • Objective: To learn about Jesus’ childhood • Scriptures: Matt. 3:1-6, 11-17; John 1:19-34; Matt. 4:1-11

  3. STOP…LOOK…LISTEN • John the baptizer’s role in preparing Jesus (Matt. 3:1-17) • Describe John’s appearance • Did John know Jesus? What was their relationship? • They were cousins • Did John want to baptize Jesus? • No, he wanted Jesus to baptize him • What was the purpose of John’s baptism? • A demonstration of repentance of sins • Did Jesus have to be baptized? Why? • To obey the command of God’s prophet • What happened after Jesus came up out of the water? • Holy Spirit descended in the form of a dove and God spoke from heaven • Why did this happen? • To confirm to John that Jesus was God’s Son (John 1:31-34)

(1 Corinthians 10:13)
