  1. CPAP Machines: What Are They? How Do They Work? What Is CPAP? CPAP stands for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure. CPAP machines are used to help individuals with sleep apnea, a sleep disorder in which breathing is interrupted during sleep. When untreated, sleep apnea can lead to health problems such as heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, and diabetes. CPAP machines provide air pressure that keeps the airway open during sleep. In addition to helping with sleep apnea, CPAP machines may also be used to treat other conditions such as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), snoring, and obesity.

  2. How Does a CPAP Machine Work? A CPAP machine uses an air pressure device to keep the airway open during sleep. The machine will use a variety of sensors to track your breathing and send this data to the machine’s computer. The computer will then use this data to create a custom air pressure for you. The pressure will be delivered through a mask or headgear that you wear during sleep.
