  1. Step 1: How To Size, Larger & Smaller, Manually

  2. 100% (original size)Size = 5.24” x 6.98”

  3. 3% Size = .16” x .21”(sized original to 3% using image properties)

  4. How Make 3% Size 1. Right-Click image and choose FORMAT PICTURE 2. Go to the SIZE tab 3. In SIZE section enter value

  5. Step 2: How To Size Smaller with Animation(and have good results)

  6. Animate 100% to 3%

  7. How Animate 100% to 3% 1. Apply Emphasis Animation, Grow/Shrink, to object 2. Go to the EFFECT tab 3. In SIZE section enter value

  8. Step 3: Problem Sizing Larger with Animation

  9. Problem = Pixelization • As we will demonstrate in a few slides, PowerPoint does not have the ability to enlarge an image without severe pixelization. It cannot even “grow” the image back to its 100% size – even though the 100% size has all the data. • On the next slide is an example of this how a small image can have all of the data to accurately display at a larger size.

  10. Manually Resize to 100% 1. Here is the image reduced to 3% using the FORMAT PICTURE >> SIZE dialog 2. Here is 3% resized to 100% using the FORMAT PICTURE >> SIZE dialog So, the information is there, put PowerPoint cannot access it when using the Grow/Shrink animation…. * To see this: - Right-click the small image and go to FORMAT PICTURE. - Go to the SIZE tab and change the 3% to 100% - Done

  11. Step 4: Sizing Larger with Animation(but getting poor results…)

  12. Animate 3% to original 100%

  13. The results are bad, but the formula is important • Being able to figure out how to enlarge an image is important, even if the previous slide’s results were unusable. • The next slide shows the formula to figure out how to enlarge an image to your needed size.

  14. Grow Equation • Example: • Original Size = 50 pixels wide • Target Size = 1,000 pixels wide • Grow shrink = 1,000 / 50 = 20 + move decimal two places to right = 2,000% (This will be within 1-2 pixels of accurate size) • Ballerina Image: • 3% Size .16” x .21” • 100% Size = 5.24” x 6.98” • Grow/Shrink = 5.24” / .16” = 32.75 + move decimal two places to right = 3,275%(Go to previous slide check animation settings)
