  2. CareVue Documentation • Double click the CareVue Thin Web icon on the desktop. • The thin web screen will open to allow you to pick the unit you wish to access.

  3. Select Unit AIC = Allenmore ICU CCU = Cardiac Care Unit CVI = Cardiovascular ICU CVS = Cardiovascular Short Stay ICU = Med Surg ICU Training = Used for Training Left Click once on the unit to select it.

  4. Opening Care Unit List • If you walk up to a workstation and the CareVue application isn’t open, click on “List Care Units” to make the list appear.

  5. Selecting a Care Unit • When the list comes up, pick the unit you need.

  6. The Exceed Hummingbird will appear prior to application opening.

  7. Logging in to CareVue Your User ID is your LastWord Provider number.

  8. Selecting a Patient At the main menu choose “Select New Patient”

  9. Current Patient List Select the patient you want to view by clicking on their name.

  10. Switching Care Units To view patients in another unit, choose “Select New Unit” from the main menu. Proceed to select New Patient as shown in the previous slide.

  11. Patient Chart Menu The selected patient’s name will appear in the banner. Choose Pt. Chart -> Flowsheet or Physician Review Reports

  12. Select Flowsheet Vital Signs section This is the default view when the flowsheet opens.

  13. Selecting Physician Review Click on the type of report you want to open or view.

  14. Section Closing/Opening Click on the section label to close or open that section. Salmon colored sections are open.

  15. Viewing Data To view details of a charted item, click on the data in the cell and a box will open with the details.

  16. Navigation on Flowsheet • The flowsheet defaults to hourly columns. To go forward or backwards in time, use the arrows at the bottom of the flowsheet.

  17. Lab Summary Flowsheet To view lab results select “Lab Summary Report from the Pt. Chart menu. This view is a trend of lab values.

  18. Lab Summary Details To see normal values, click on the displayed value. Results in red are out of normal range.

  19. Changing Your Password • Passwords expire every 90 days. • New passwords must be 8-10 characters long with at least 1 number. • If password has expired call IS Help desk @ 403-1160 To change your password, go to Main Menu; System Operations; Change Your Password You will be required to enter your old password when you select System Operations.

  20. Completion of Viewing • When you have completed viewing your patient’s charts, click on “Main Menu” and then click on “Logoff”.

  21. Points to Remember • When you walk up to a workstation, check the taskbar to see if there is a CareVue session already open. Click on the CareVue session to maximize it. • If it does not show a logon screen, go to another workstation.

  22. Obtaining Assistance • Call the IS Help Desk at 403-1160 for • Help with your password • CareVue questions staff unable to answer. • Further assistance
