  11. Resources ManagementChallenges • Increased user persistence : simplicity, real networking, usability, interoperability, flexibility • Easy integration into learning environments • Static and dynamic aggregation: open source and Web services • Encapsulating resources & abstract language for control, adaptivity, repurposing • Integration of advanced MM/3D/VR learning objects: MPEG-7 and CANCORE • Data mining into LO repositories and knowledge management processes

  12. 4- Function & Operation Management Function examples • Activity scenarios management • Knowledge management • Competency management • Information and explanation management • Resource management • Collaboration management • Evaluation and assessment • Design and delivery of the system Use case structures Actors Resources Documents Tools Operations

  16. 5- Future of Explor@ • Actual Potential(Bêta -Q.1 - 2002) • Open, multi-actor and multi-model Telelearning system • Integrated management of courses and resources • Function as tree structure (Activities + knowledge) • Embedded assistance to operations • IMS-CANCORE metadata (XML and SQL data base) • Limitations to overcome • Not yet a large control on resources (abstract resources) • Superficial interoperability (semantic web and web services) • Actors partially coordinated (not by visible processes) • Limited adaptive assistance (expand the actual advisor) • Integration between Explor@ and other LMS (Ex: WCT) • Meta-functions to integrate design, development, delivery

  17. Main goals • Autonomous resources and system components, reusable in different contexts, for different actors • Encapsulate in an abstract layer, manipulate and enable aggregation at a semantic Web level • Interactive graphic models as a meaningful context to help actor coordination • Integration methodology for portals, platforms, and telelearning services • Explor@ as part of a distributed network of LSPs interoperated through web services
