  2. Arlington’s Mission To provide a quality learning environment so that each child can succeed through our balanced curriculum. To assist children in developing academic skills, creativity, emotional health, physical abilities, and social skills. To help students acquire the skills necessary to function effectively in today’s rapidly changing diverse society.

  4. Highly Educated Staff • All teachers at Arlington Elementary are “Highly Qualified” as defined in No Child Left Behind • All teachers hold a CLAD credential

  5. What Makes Us Unique? Academic Program • Intervention groups – provide targeted support for students who are not proficient in language arts and math • Technology – over 30 computers in our lab – CCC and other instructional programs • Data driven decision making – utilize data to gauge student progress and make instructional decisions • Standards based instruction • Weekly Staff Development (Professional Learning Community) on early out Wednesdays • Strong community support and partnerships • Teacher’s children have attended Arlington • Great students who come to school everyday ready to learn!

Accountability • Academic Performance Index (API) • 2007 BaseAPI of 854 • 2008 GrowthAPI of 891 • Up 37 points from 2007 to 2008 • Met All Growth Targets (State Target 800) • Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) 2008 • Per federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001: • Arlington met AYP targets in Math. • Arlington did not meet all English Language Arts targets.

Targets for 2008-2009 • 100% proficiency by 2014 • API Target 1.5 gain (893) • Professional growth opportunities for teachers by continuing weekly staff development program (PLC) • Improve and infuse technology into classrooms • Implement ELD strategies • Use assessment to target student needs • Focus on writing strategies, consistency in use of standards across the grades
