European e-Competence Framework (e-CF) – overview • The result of two-years activity from e-Skills multistakeholder, ICT and human resources experts' work • A common European reference for ICT Professionals • 32 ICT practitioner and manager competences in 5 e-Competence areas, • Competences defined at 5 e-Competence levels, related to the EQF (European Qualifications Framework) levels 3-8 • For: ICT user and supply companies, the public sector, educational and social partners across Europe • Accompanied by user guidelines for framework application • Framework development context: CEN / ISSS workshop on ICT skills www.cen.eu, 2006 – 2008 www.ecompetences.eu

  5. e-CF aims and benefits • Internationally shared HR management and planning tool for ICT Industry (both vendor and user companies, large companies and SME‘s ) • A common reference point between existing ICT competence frameworks like CIGREF, AITTS, SFIA, adding value with a European dimension • a neutral, cross-national communication, cooperation and benchmarking tool for the ICT industry, public sectors, training bodies, certification institutions and individuals • positioning European ICT competence in the global market • A Europe-wide working tool for: • ICT practitionersand managers with clear guidelines for their competence development • HR managers with inputs to anticipate, plan and develop competence needs • Higher Education, Vocational Training and Certification Providers,enabling effective planning and design of ICT curricula Ability to develop, manage and plan ICT practitioner and manager competences that will be needed in a long term perspective across Europe www.ecompetences.eu

Framework underpinning methodology • Based on a shared understanding of competence • 5 e-Competence levels related to the EQF • Framework structured from 4 dimensions: Dimension 1: 5 e-CF areas Dimension 3: 5 e-CF levels Dimension 2: 32 competences Dimension 4: knowledge & skills Competence: a demonstrated ability to apply knowledge, skills and attitudes for achieving observable results www.ecompetences.eu
