  1. THE PARABLE OF THE LEAVEN: Text: Matthew 13:33 Intro: When the Lord likened the kingdom of heaven into a leaven(yeast) what comes into your mind? Or what are the good attributes of a leaven? What aspects of it is He trying to teach us? Aim: For us to learn both aspects of the leaven in understanding the kingdom of heaven. I. A WOMAN TOOK AND HID A woman signifies a weaker vessel-I Pet 3:7

  2. 1Pe 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with [them] according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered Compared to the influences of the world, gospel propagation is weak but it works People without faith might say it has less chances of achieving its goal 1Cr 14:34 Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says. 1Cr 14:35 And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church.

  3. 1Ti 2:12 And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. Even in this country women was just given equal opportunity lately. At first less recognized but as it goes along they will see its capability Gal 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. Gal 3:27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus

  4. II. THE LEAVEN IS HIDDEN IN THREE MEASURES Last week the kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field Hidden in such a way it couldn’t be stolen The leaven is hidden that you cannot see it Using your sight or eyes you cannot see the leaven on a dough True power is hidden just like riches Three measures signifies enough meal for the day It also means not just a portion Starch and water produces gluten which will allow more air trapped in the dough thus making it rise

  5. III. YEAST OR LEAVEN IS A LIVING ORGANISM Although the baking process kills yeast cells, yeast is a live fungus that activates when mixed with warm water. Yeast feeds on the sugar and on starches in flour when it is introduced to the bread mix. It breaks the starches down into simple sugars. Saccharomyces cerevisiae makes the dough rise It makes the bread softer or tender and desirable to eat It works silently but effectively. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

  6. Isa 55:10 "For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, • Isa 55:11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. IV. THE MEAL WE ARE EATING IS NOT PURELY FLOUR • It is inflated with traditions or culture • Mat 15:8 'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honour Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. • Mat 15:9 And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'"

  7. We’re just honest enough to admit we are adhering easily to traditions or teachings of men rather than the Word of God • This is the reason why we are called full gospel • Mat 16:6 Then Jesus said to them, "Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.“ • Mat 16:12 Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees • Ex. India in hunger because of their belief in reincarnation • Mat 15:14 "Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch. • Roots of idolatry-Ex 19:10-12; 32: 3-4

  8. Luke 12:1 In the meantime, when an innumerable multitude of people had gathered together, so that they trampled one another, He began to say to His disciples first of all, "Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. • The outside appearance does not always tell what is inside • Not all people who says good things does good things • Hopefully this church, as it does not rises quickly is pure • Mar 8:15 Then He charged them, saying, "Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod."

  9. CHALLENGE: • Are you eating pure or leavened? • Are the teachings that saturates your mind purely God’s Word? CONCLUSION: Mat 13:33 Another parable He spoke to them: "The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal till it was all leavened.
