  2. Objectives • Know how to use a range of graphics tools to edit bitmapped images • Understand the difference between bitmap and vector images • Be able to edit digital images using a variety of tools and techniques

  5. Vector images vsBitmap images • Vector images store the lines, shapes and colours of an images as mathematical formulae. When you enlarge a vector image, the formulae work out the new sizes and shapes, so there is no loss of quality. • Bitmap images are made up of millions of squares called pixels. • They have a fixed image resolution, and if you try and enlarge them you will lose picture quality.

  7. Task 1 (15 mins) • Open CD Resource 3a • Using some of the techniques you have been shown, work through Steps 3.3 to 3.7.

  8. Task 2 (15 mins) • Open CD Resource 3b • Using a range of techniques, manipulate some of the images in CD Resource 3a. • Swap seats with your neighbour and identify the techniques he/she has used, and identify the clues! Record these on CD Resource 3b.
