Why Strength Train? • Maintain healthy body weight • - 30% teased about weight • - Negative self-esteem, depression, suicide, thoughts • - Obese teens - heavy smokers • - Females overweight at 18, increase risk of death in middle age
Why Strength Train? • Bone Density • Increased risk of fractures • 80% of females calcium deficient • Resistance training can increase bone mass • Improve cardiovascular risk profile • Improve psychological well being
Why Resistance Bands? • In studies with young adults shown to be equivalent to traditional weight training • Inexpensive • Portable • Greater range of motion

Methodology • Goal #1: To promote positive lifestyle behaviors toward strength training in adolescent females • Goal #2: Participants will increase their pretest and post-test strength results by 10%.
