WHAT IS ADF? • An ECA led initiative to set an Africa-driven development agenda • A process of initiating dialogue, building consensus, and mobilizing partnerships on emerging issues involving a wide cross-section of Africa's stakeholders – Heads of State and Government, Policy Makers, Civil Society, Private Sector, Women, Youth, Academia, Media, African Diaspora, etc. • Good corporate governance practices bring about wealth creation, generation of economic growth and expansion of employment opportunities, and thus contributing to alleviation of poverty.

ADF IV - OBJECTIVE • A forum for dialogue among the various stakeholders in Africa on how to improve and sustain good governance in the continent and generate implementable strategies of good governance practices including capacity building challenges, at the national, sub-regional and continental levels. • Good corporate governance practices bring about wealth creation, generation of economic growth and expansion of employment opportunities, and thus contributing to alleviation of poverty.

ADF IV PREPARTORY PROCESSES • ADF IV will be more than the several days of meetings. • Key document "Measuring and Monitoring Progress towards Good Governance in Africa.“ • National action in 28 countries • Sub-regional workshops (3) • Good corporate governance practices bring about wealth creation, generation of economic growth and expansion of employment opportunities, and thus contributing to alleviation of poverty.

  10. ADF IV KEY DOCUMENTS • A number of reports will serve as inputs to the Forum. The major ones are: • The African Governance Report; • Sub-regional reports • Country profiles • Papers from the thematic Focus Groups; • Technical background papers to be presented at the forum. • Good corporate governance practices bring about wealth creation, generation of economic growth and expansion of employment opportunities, and thus contributing to alleviation of poverty.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES OF ADF IV • A common understanding of good governance and its relevance to development and poverty reduction in Africa; • Action plan at national, sub-regional and continental levels; • Valuable inputs into the African Governance Report • Good corporate governance practices bring about wealth creation, generation of economic growth and expansion of employment opportunities, and thus contributing to alleviation of poverty.

PARTICIPATION • Participant will be drawn from a cross-section of organizations and institutions involved in various aspects of governance: representatives from parliaments, election authorities, private sector operators, traditional rulers, local government institutions, watchdog organizations, the media, organizations involved in information and technology for governance, civil society organizations, academia, youth and research institutions.
