Introduction • Governed by the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961 which has declared them as INI . • IITs have a common admission process for undergraduate level admissions, called IIT-JEE, which was substituted by Joint Entrance Examination Advanced in the year 2013. • Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is being conducted in two divisions, JEE-MAIN and JEE-ADVANCED . • JEE MAIN Exam was called as AIEEE and JEE ADVANCED Exam as IIT.

  3. M.Tech and MS admissions are done on the basis of GATE exam score . •  IITs also award other graduate degrees such as M.Sc in Maths, Physics and Chemistry, MBA, PhD etc. Admission to these programs of IITs is done through CAT , Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) and Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED). • In total , there are 23 IITs in India .

Eligibility Criteria • Candidates must have Physics and Mathematics as their mandatory subjects. • They must have studied any one of the subjects as optional subjects (Chemistry, Bio-technology, Computer Science, Biology) • They must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in 12th including all subjects. • Age – 17 yrs. • A candidate can have a maximum of 3 attempts.

  6. Exam pattern • JEE Main comprises of two papers: Paper 1: For Engineering courses (Online Test OR Offline Test) Paper 2: For Architecture/Planning courses (Available only as Pen & Paper Mode)

  7. Paper 1 •  The Exam will have questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. • The candidates have to opt for the correct response for each question out of four responses given. • The exam will be of 3 hours . • Each correct question will be allotted 4 marks • Every wrong answer will result in deduction of 1/4 mark of the total marks • Zero marks will be deducted for no answer • Medium of paper will be in English, Hindi .

  8. Paper 2 • It is a Pen and Paper based Exam. • It consists of 3 parts:        1. Mathematics        2. Aptitude Test         3. Drawing Test

JEE Advanced Exam Pattern • JEE Advanced Comprises of three parts- Part I for Physics, Part II for Chemistry and Part III for Mathematics. • Each part will have sections as follows: Section I: Have 10 multiple choice questions with four options where only one is the correct. Section II: Have 5 multiple-choice questions with four options out of which one or more options are correct. Section III: Has 5 questions and the answer to each will be a single digit ranging from 0 to 9.
