    1. Amazing Fun Facts About the Skin You probably touch your skin about a thousand times every day, but how much do you know about it? We spoke to the best dermatologist in Chennai and here some amazing facts about your skin. The skin accounts for about 15% of your total body weight. Your skin is thinnest on your eyelids and thickest on the feet. The skin of an average person can cover an area of about 2 square metres. The skin of an average adult weighs about 4Kg and contains more than 11 miles of blood vessels. There are about 300 million skin cells. A square inch of skin can have as much as 19 million skin cells. The skin renews or replenishes itself every 28 days or just about every month. The skin sheds about 30,000 to 40,000 dead cells every minute! Most of the dust in your house is suspected to be dead skin. Your skin houses more than 1000 different species of bacteria! Don’t get worried, most of them have a protective function. They help with wound healing and reducing inflammation. The skin gets its colour from a pigment called melanin in the body. the more melanin your body produces, the darker you are. Without the skin, we would probably not be able to do a lot of the things we take for granted like moving and breathing. So, it’s more than the outer layer of the body, it’s one of our biggest assets. For more amazing fun facts about the skin, chat with the best hospital in Chennai with our online messaging board.
