  1. Preparation of the Body Swimming Strengths + Weaknesses

  2. Aspects of Fitness • What do you think are your strengths and weaknesses from: • Cardio respiratory endurance • Speed endurance • Muscular endurance • Mobility • Coordination • Control • Reaction Time • Motivation • Concentration • Mental rehearsal • Anxiety control

  3. Analysis and Evaluation of your Results • Look at your test results • From your 100m FC what information relates to CRE? • Ability to finish race • First 75m (consistent pacing) • Number of breaths • Place in class

  4. 100m FC analysis • What information relates to muscular endurance? • Ability to finish race • Number of strokes • What information relates to control and coordination? • Technique – 1,2,3? • Number of strokes / stroke efficiency

  5. Example analysis for STRENGTHS • Finish race = some degree of CRE + ME • 7th place out of 26 = competitive • Average 2 second drop off in splits = relatively consistent pace • Arm pulls range from 13 – 17 = some consistency • Technique = 2 in first 50m and 3 in last 50m = some degree of control and fluency with a coordinated stroke

  6. Analyse your 100m FC data • 5mins task • List some bullet points of strengths and why it is a strength

  7. Example of weaknesses • CRE = split times compared to Maglischo = 1st 25m 2 seconds slower than capable of, 3rd 75m over 3 secs slower. Means? = lack of O2 getting to muscles = poor CRE. • Further evidence CRE main weakness? = number breaths increase from 13 – 17. T5 test= base speed of 0.76m/s = below average • SE = unable to raise speed in last 25m. • Poor coordination = technique dropping (2 to 3). Stroke efficiency poor = dropped from 59% to 46% efficient. • Anxious = SCAT test of 21 shows high levels of anxiety • Overall performance affected = 14secs slower than best girl and 46secs slower than best boy (regional competition)

  8. Analyse your data and give Weaknesses • Task 5mins • Look at your data from all your tests • List bullet points on what was a weakness, how you know this and the negative effect it had on you performance

  9. Development needs • Pick 1 main development need – everyone will have the same one? • Pick 3 (atleast) other development needs • State the development need • Why you want to improve it • And how you think it will have a POSITIVE EFFECT • 10mins partner task to come up with development needs (everyone slightly different)

  10. Development Needs • Main = CRE. WHY = keep muscles supplied with O2 and prevent o2 debt. POSITIVE EFFECT = DELAY lactic acid build up = faster first 75m. • Coordination/control. WHY = take less strokes = more propulsion. POSITIVE EFFECT = conserve energy and delay lactic acid build up. • Speed Endurance. WHY = Increase pace and TOLERATE lactic acid build up. POSITIVE EFFECT = finish race (last 25m) at faster pace. • Anxiety. WHY = lower heart rate and be more confident. POSITIVE EFFECT = conserve energy and swim more effectively.

  11. Prepare for NAB Preparation… • NAB stage 1 covers: • Methods you used to gather data = How and Why • Strengths and Weaknesses of your performance • Future development needs • Have a look over all of your test data • Take note of important information from tests • Think about how to answer questions on those areas
