  1. Exam Practise – Ageing Population To say what something is e.g. telling the doctor how you feel. To give reasons by saying why something is the way it is e.g. the doctor explains what a cold is and tells you more about it. Describewhy the country you have studied has an ageing population and explainthe social and economicimpacts. How much of a concern is this? (8 marks) When talking about money for a country or a region e.g. UK economy. The study of people in an area of for a country.   3. + Opportunities - Ageing Population: • The grey economy is those who elderly people whom have free time and disposable income – they often benefit the economy by spending money e.g. holidays, cafes, restaurants etc. • Opportunity for people to work past 65 which in turn benefits the local economy. • Retired people have free time to volunteer e.g. charity and local community work. • Active members of a local community e.g. Parish Council, ensuing safety & local prosperity. - Consequences - Ageing Population: • Residential homes providing care cost over £1000 per week. • Fewer people in economically active group • More elderly people living in poverty – not enough working population to pay for a decent pension and people have no savings. • Increased demands for more pensions. State pension is low and the government is struggling to pay it. Taxes aren’t enough to cover pensions. • Health service is under pressure as older people need more medical car

  4. Describewhy the country you have studied has an ageing population and explain the social and economic impacts. How much of a concern is this? (8 marks)

  5. Each of the case study questions also has 3 marks available for spelling, Punctuation & Grammar (New for 2013) After my work I need to check SPaG Spelling! Have I spelt key words like place names, famous people’s names correctly? Have I correctly used homophones, e,g, their/there or to/too/two? Hopefully I haven’t used text speak, e.g. lol! If I have spelt a word wrong once I need to check to see I haven’t made the same mistake again. Punctuation! Have I used a full stop or other appropriate punctuation mark at the end of every sentence? Are there capital letters at the beginning of each sentence and for names? Have I used speech marks correctly? Check if I have used exclamation marks (!) unnecessarily and Grammar! Does my essay sound correct when I read it? Does my writing sound too casual? Have I started a sentence with ‘and’?
