  5. Question? What profit has a man from all his labor in which he toils under the sun? (1:3). 12 Chapters • Answer "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man." (12:13)

  6. The key word in this book is “ ". It occurs 35 times in 29 verses. vanity under the sun But also“ “ is found 29 times in 27 verses. I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed all is vanity and grasping of spirit. (1:14). Vanity + = What profit has a man from all his labor under the sun + What profit has a man from all his labor (Fear God + Keep His commandments) Eternal life = The message of vanity is true if you Keep God out of the equation. Depressed happy

  7. Chapter Seven & Eight Wisdom of dealing with the vain life and Preparing for Eternal life 1- A good name is better than a good ointment, And the day of one’s death is better than the day of one's birth. (Ecclesiastes 7:1). الصيت خير من الدهن الطيّب ويوم الممات خير من يوم الولادة. day of death is better than the day of birth. A good name = A good deed . .. At the day of your birth, anything is possible. But on the day of your death, what you have done with your life no longer can be changed.

  8. 2-Better to go to the house of mourning Than to go to the house of feasting, For that is the end of all men; And the living will take it to heart. (7:2). His thoughts are in the house of mourning. His mind is in the house of pleasure. Takes the shortness of life into account. Pretends as if this life lasts forever. The remembrance of death casts away evil desires.

  9. 3- It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise than for a man to hear the song of fools. (Ecclesiastes 7:5). We all hate being told that we are wrong. But we are better off if we are told that we are wrong so that we can fix ourselves.

  10. 4- Surely oppression destroys a wise man’s reason , and gifts destroys the heart.(7:7) He who hates gifts shall live. Pr 15:27 Bribe

  11. 5-The end of a matter is better than its beginning, The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit (7:8). • Proud people are by nature impatient people. طول الروح خير من تكبر الروح • No one ever won a race because of their great beginning. The prize goes to the one who finishes the race. Heb 13:7 Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the end of their conduct.

  12. 6- Do not say, Why were the former days better than these? For you do not inquire wisely concerning this.(7:10)

  13. 7- Consider the work of God: for who can make straight, what He made crooked? The bad news = There are some things that we cannot change. The good news = They were brought into my life by God Himself. Lord, grant me the courage to change what I can change, to accept those things I cannot change, and the wisdom to know the difference.

  14. 8- In the day of prosperity be happy, But in the day of adversity consider -- God has made the one as well as the otherSo that man will not discover anything that will be after him. (Ecclesiastes 7:14). In the day of difficulty grumble and in the day of prosperity fear from the day of difficulty.

  15. 9- Do not be overly righteous , Nor be overly wise: why should you destroy yourself?

  16. 10-He who keeps His commandment will experience nothing harmful. (8-5) Because narrow is the gate, and difficult is the way, which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Difficult The way of God Easy Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly, and you will find rest for your soul. For my yoke is easy, and My burden is light.

  17. 10-He who keeps His commandment will experience nothing harmful. (8-5) حافظ الوصية لا يشعر بامر شاق • This principles has many modern-day corollaries. • - When you drive the speed limit, you don’t have to worry about speed traps. • When you pay your taxes you don’t have to worry about IRS audit. • When you do your works faithfully on the job, you don’t have to worry if your boss is watching.

  18. 11- Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed quickly, therefore the hearts of the sons of men among them are given fully to do evil. (Ecclesiastes 8:11). Here is a situation. A man is warned that if he sins, he will suffer the consequences of those sins. But he sins anyway. Time passes. And then passes more. And nothing happens. It appears that he has gotten away with it. The natural reaction of anyone is to emulate such sins.

  19. 12- There is futility which is done on the earth, that is, there are righteous men to whom it happens according to the deeds of the wicked. On the other hand, there are evil men to whom it happens according to the deeds of the righteous. I say that this too is futility. (Ecclesiastes 8:14). ...to whom it happens according to the deeds of the wicked. ...to whom it happens according to the deeds of the righteous.

  20. 13- Although a sinner does evil a hundred times and may lengthen his life, still I know that it will be well for those who fear God, who fear Him openly. 13 But it will not be well for the evil man and he will not lengthen his days like a shadow, because he does not fear God. (Ecclesiastes 8:12-13). Looks at life "under the sun" Looks at life with eternity in mind The sinner lengthens his life. It will not be well for the evil man it will not be well for the evil man. it will be well for those who fear God

  21. Glory be to God for ever Amen
