Easter celebrations are now synonymous with chocolate eggs, but their origins are local. In 1874, Joseph Cadbury produced the first commercial chocolate bar at his factory in Bristol. Just a year later, Fry’s made the inaugural Easter egg in 1875, later introducing Fry’s Turkish Delight in 1914. Fry’s merged with Cadbury in 1919, relocating to the Somerdale site in Keynsham in 1923. Sadly, the Somerdale factory is set to close, marking the end of an era in Bristol's chocolate-making legacy.
