  2. Description of characteristic knowledge, value, and skills Social work practitioners understand that policy affects service delivery, and they actively engage in policy practice. Social workers know the history and current structures of social policies and services; the role of policy in service delivery; and the role of practice in policy development

  3. Generalist Practice Behavior 8.1 & 8.2 Analyze, formulate, and advocate for policies that advance social well-being • SGA approached me about identifying the students that might benefit from a food drive since November is Homelessness Awareness mOnth • The student mentioned that they originally planned to help Hungry Angelz but the principal wanted to help the students in the school Collaborate with colleagues and clients for effective policy action

  4. Continued • Since I have worked with Hungry Angelz before, and I knew the type of contributions they make, I mentioned to the student that I would talk with Mr. Shakeel to discuss a possible plan of action. • We came to the conclusion that it would be difficult to identify students in need. • I contacted the SGA advisor and advocated for Hungry Angelz. I suggested they conduct a food drive for them and possibly a coat drive for the Hunger and Homeless Stand Down
