  1. 2007 Summer Academy Mega-cities: Social vulnerability and resilience building Development for whom? And Why only we? Hyderabad is one of the fastest growing mega-cities in Asia and it has become hub of Information Technology. Due to the unplanned Development the city has become vulnerable and along with it it has created a new blocks among the population. The urban poor are becoming poorer and poorer and the rich are getting richer. Although all the buildings are built by the slum dwellers and the poor, they do not have a place to stay. The photographs displayed on the other side are just examples and the extreme diversities. The hut seen next to this is 5x6 in size and a human being can not stand inside the dwelling. There are hundreds of examples to show the vulnerability level. The human dignity is totally absent as these people in many of the localities do not even have a decent bath room complex, which has made the women vulnerable. Nanda Kishor M S Hyderabad, India
