River analogiesteach us about our journey through life’s experiences… • Natural Resource – critical for life; must be treated with caring, respect and responsibility • Eddy- still calm part of life • Current – everyday flow – the way your life’s path takes you • Rapids – turbulent, stressful • Hidden Boulders/Rocks – sudden surprises good or bad that make you alter course • Downstream – future direction life headed • Upstream– the past • Rowing - working alone to meet goals • Paddling – working as a team to make life go somewhere • Whirlpool- when life seems to be spinning rapidly

For over 20,000 years, it has been used for transportation as it cuts through the heart of Alaska and western Canada; making it a very important trade route for people. The area surrounding the river is rich in resources like gold, silver, copper, timber, and others, which allows people to make goods and a living. Why did we name our teams after the Yukon River?
