River analogiesteach us about our journey through life’s experiences… • Natural Resource – critical for life; must be treated with caring, respect and responsibility • Eddy- still calm part of life • Current – everyday flow – the way your life’s path takes you • Rapids – turbulent, stressful • Hidden Boulders/Rocks – sudden surprises good or bad that make you alter course • Downstream – future direction life headed • Upstream– the past • Rowing - working alone to meet goals • Paddling – working as a team to make life go somewhere • Whirlpool- when life seems to be spinning rapidly

In life we often… • go with the flow, dealing with simple and complex challenges that face us each day. • require materials or resources to complete task, jobs, or every day activities. • build our experiences or learning, in order to collect knowledge and wisdom that will make us a better person in the future.

  7. It is the 5th largest River in North America. It acted as the primary migration route for the first humans to settle and spread south into North America. For over 20,000 years, it has been used for transportation as it cuts through the heart of Alaska and western Canada; making it a very important trade route for people. The area surrounding the river is rich in resources like gold, silver, copper, timber, and others, which allows people to make goods and a living. Why did we name our teams after the Yukon River?
