  2. Magical Lantern • A device that projected painted pictures on a wall or a screen • This was a very popular way of entertainment

  3. Stereoscopes • This is an optical toy • The picture it came with was two of the same picture • When looking at the picture in the stereoscope the image was 3D

  4. Cast • A selection of actors that are chosen for a play, opera,or a movie.

  5. Photo Flood • A photo flood is a high powered screw in light bulb • Ranges from 250 to 500 watts

  6. Tracking Shot • A tracking shot is when the camera moves while filming • A tracking shot or a dolly shot

  7. Clap Board • The clap board is a stick hinged to a board • The clap board is used to record a scene number

  8. Spacer • A spacer is a metal cylindrical object with a flat side • Used to spread out reels

  9. Head Room • The space between the actors head and the top of the camera shot • This is important for transfer from film to blow up

  10. Paper Tape • A Thin roll of tape • It holds the film ends when editing

  11. Pigeon • A round disc in a lighting studio • Used to move lights on the ground

  12. Dissolve • A transition from one scene to the next scene. • This is done by the editors that edit the film
