2. The REAL FUTURE Tense The Real Future tense is used to talk about what you: WILL DO

3. The REALFUTURE Tense Foundation All you need is: Je +INFINITIVE + ai You can think of it as a formula like you use in Maths: Je + Infinitive + ai = Real Future Tense Note that with ‘RE’ verbs, you must take off the ‘E’ from the infinitive before adding an ending.

4. The REAL FUTURE Tense What is an INFINITIVE? • An infinitive is a particular form of the verb (meaning To……… e.g. Jouer = To play) • An infinitive is the verb you will find in the dictionary • An infinitive must end in –ER, -IR or -RE

6. To the infinitive you add a special ending for ‘je’ JOUERAI Je I will play FINIRAI Je I will finish I will sell Je VENDRAI Note that with ‘RE’ verbs, you must take off the ‘E’ from the infinitive before adding an ending.

7. The REAL FUTURE Tense Higher Some VERBS don’t follow this pattern – these are called IRREGULARS Aller – j’irai=I will go Avoir – j’aurai=I will have Être - je serai=I will be Faire – je ferai=I will do Voir – je verrai=I will see

RE verbs lose the E before adding -ai Je + INFINITIVE + ai = Real Future Tense Je préparerai le dîner I will prepare dinner J’étudierai le français I will study French I will arrive late J’arriverai en retard Je jouerai au hockey I will play hockey J’écouterai de la musique I will listen to music J’irai au collège I will go to school Je vendrai mon portable I will sell my mobile Je finirai les devoirs I will finish my homework

The REAL FUTURE Tense IMPROVE YOUR WORK There are three ways to improve your REAL Future sentences : 1 ADVERBS OF TIME Say when you do something by starting your sentences with one of the following adverbs of time : Demain Cet été Le week-end prochain Le vendredi soir - Tomorrow - This summer - Next weekend - On Friday night

The REAL FUTURE Tense Examples So, let’s use some of the earlier examples together with an adverb of time & frequency to improve our Real Future sentences Le vendredi soir je préparerai le dîner On Friday night I will prepare dinner Cet été j’ étudierai le français This summer I will study French Le week-end prochain je finirai les devoirs Next weekend I will finish my homework Demain j’ irai au collège Tomorrow I will go to school

The REAL FUTURE Tense IMPROVE YOUR WORK 2 TALK ABOUT A DIFFERENT PERSON Talk about somebody else (your sister, your friend, etc) Je-ai Tu-as Il-a Elle-a On-a Nous-ons Vous-ez Ils -ont Elles -ont You will need to add these endings to the INFINITIVE : (but remember to take off the E from RE verbs)
