  1. Future Internet Research, Services and Technology Subproject 4.4 International Workshop 29 November 2013 Debrecen Márta Virágos

  2. Future Internet Research, Services and Technology • Subproject No 4: customizedcontent management ( ledby András Hajdu) • Main objectives of the project: • Customized and effectiveprocessing of highquantitydata (ledby András Hajdu) • Development of collaborativedataminingsystem (ledby András Lukács) • Preparation of a user platform supportingmultimodelhuman-machinecommunication (ledby Attila Fazekas) • Availability and dissemination of digitallibrarycontent (ledby Mária Chernoch) • Semanticmultimediasearchalgorythms (ledby Gábor Szűcs)

  3. Subproject 4.4.The intelligent library • The project has twoaims: • Development of a searchmethodologybasedonnaturallanguages • Mapping out the 3D possibilitiesin a library (virtualpresentation of valuablecollectionitems) • Project team members: • Gy. Bujdosó, I. Boda, M. Bényei, E. Dani, M. Borbély, M. Csernoch, L. Balázs, K. Koltay, A. Gilányi, E. Tóth, M. Virágos

  4. (1) LibSearchNet: search techniques visualization • The priority of thinkinginimages is effecting a radical shift incommunicational, learning, information-search, and information-processinghabits. • Libraryshoulddevelopvisualizedcatalogues: 3D visualization of authoritydatacouldbecome an easytouse and quicktool of surfing amongconcepthierarchies. • LibSearchNetwillbasedonthreecornerstones: • 1. theanalysis of the online activities of libraryusers and systemsrecordedinlibrary log files, • 2. therepresentation of theusers’ searchesinthementallexicon, • 3. and thestandardization of library log files.

  5. Analyses of Library Log Files • Goal: IdentifyingSearchFlows and Searchertypes • The success of theanalysisdependsonthe • Backgroundknowledge of the human analyzers • Mentalcompetencies of the human analyzers • Results: • Identification of themetacognitiveprocesses • Identifyingthecontentscomingfromerrors of thelibrarysystem • Classifyingthesearchersintousertypes

  6. Goal: DevelopingLibrary Log File Initiatives for making possible the collaboration between online systems For general library log file processes standardization is necessary Need to identify and label the searching flows Initiatives, new tags into the log files: sessionflow-id The ID of session-flow, field has type <integer> sessionflow-fromThe beginning of an estimated session-flow, field has type <time> sessionflow-toThe end of an estimated session-flow, field has type <time> LibSearchNet: Library Log File Initiatives

  7. New dimensions of an ancient library • Inthe project a three-dimentionalmodel of a virtuallibrarywill be createdbyexploitingthecapabilities of theVirtualCollaborationArena (VIRCA)systemdeveloppedbytheTechnical University of Budapest. • BasedontheclassificationsystemelaboratedbyCallimachusthe project focusonthefield of old Greekpoetry and dramainthe 3rd century BC, and selectsomeillustriousancientauthorsandtextsforthecontent of a virtuallibrary. • Inadditiontothethreediemensionalvirtuallibrarymodel, the project createdthehypertextrepresentationwhichcanfurtheremphasizetheadditionalfeaturesthatthethreedimentionalrepresentationprovidesforus.

  10. Library treasures in a virtual world • Traditionallibrariesoftencontain, inadditiontotheir main holdings, specialcollectionswhicharenormallynotopenforthegeneralpublic. • Digitizationprojectshavebeen part of libraryactivitiesforsomedecadesnowand wereaimedatdeveloping local toolstofacilitatein-housemamagement of thecollections. • The University and National Library has an Early Printed and RareBookCollectionswhichincludesnearly 30.000 items. • The holecollectioncan be foundinonespecialroomwhich is closedtothelibrarypatrons. • The aim of the project is todevelop a three-dimensionalsystem, whichmakesthe most cherised and carefullyguardedtreasures of thelibrary, togetherwiththeroom, virtuallyavailable.

  11. The Virtual Realization • The system is constructed in such a form, that the user can ask a robot or a „virtual librarian” to guide him/her in the room. • One can move in the virtual space as one would do it in a real one. • Obviously, a very important part of our system is the presentation of the books of the collection. • We can take out a book and we can open it. For this „opening” the project has several tools in the system.
