When was the first computer invented? • The first mechanical computer was invented by Charles Babbage an English mechanical engineer and polymath, originated the concept of a programmable computer, but it does not resemble to a modern day computer at all! • The word computer was first recorded in 1613 and was originally used to describe a human who performed calculations!

  4. After Babbage's computer there came a new era of computers which replaced transistors with tubes.

  5. Considered a "father of the computer", Babbage is credited with inventing the first mechanical computer that eventually led to more complex designs. His varied work in other fields has led him to be described as "pre-eminent" among the many polymaths of his century.
