  1. Full simulator study of muon detector (and calorimeter) 8th ACFA Workshop at Daegu, Korea 2005/07/12 (Tue) Hiroaki Ono (Niigata University) with ACFA-sim-j members 8th ACFA meeting @Daegu

  2. Muon detector status in Full simulator • Jupiter (MC generator) • Installation of muon geometry, magnetic field to the generator was finished (Outside of the Solenoid, as a return yoke) • Satellites (Analysis part) • smear and muID is under construction. • Exact hit (MC truth) can be analyze. I will report the current status of Muon detector in full simulator. 8th ACFA meeting @Daegu

  3. Jupiter generator part 8th ACFA meeting @Daegu

  4. Geometry of Muon detector • Active layer (10cm-thick) • air : Default, reserved Gas chamber) • scintillator : test version • Absorber (40cm-thick) • Iron (as a return yoke) • Barrel : 4 layers, Endcap : 5+2(inner) layers • Octagonal shape in the phi direction • Alternately placed barrel and endcap layer 8th ACFA meeting @Daegu

  5. Geometry of Muon detector 2 layers placed inside of the solenoid coil. Alternately placed at diagonal region. 845 530 430 700 375 450 [cm] 8th ACFA meeting @Daegu

  6. Magnetic field for full simulator Magnetic field/ Flux line Unit: Tesla Return Yoke magnetic field Study(KEK H.Yamaoka-san) 8th ACFA meeting @Daegu

  7. Magnetic field in Jupiter (MUD) 1 to 2 Tesla Roughly installed in return-yoke 8th ACFA meeting @Daegu

  8. Magnetic field test by muon • m- 10 GeV • z=0, y=1 direction (barrel direction) • Opposite curveture at the inside of solenoid and outside. 8th ACFA meeting @Daegu

  9. Satellites analysis part 8th ACFA meeting @Daegu

  10. Muon detector standard tests • Calibration • Leakage energy from CAL • (punch through) • e+e-→ZH→mmbb event analysis • Muon finding (m ID) efficiency • (still under study) 8th ACFA meeting @Daegu

  11. Calibration of MUD by muon • m calibration (MIP) • 10GeV m- • Injected to barrel direction • Energy deposit in each layer • > 10 MeV Threshold set to 10 MeV (MIP) for the muon finding (muID) 8th ACFA meeting @Daegu

  12. Muon generated inside of CAL e+e-→ZH →m+m-bb ECM = 300 GeV, Events = 500 event If we use muon detector for muon ID, it can be a miss PID due to the muon created inside of Calorimeter. As a first step, we check the number of muons created inside of the calorimeter. 8th ACFA meeting @Daegu

  13. Hit informations in CAL/MUD m created inside of the CAL m from IP m m MUD Inner CAL outer CAL inner 2 1 Check the PDG code at CAL front and MUD front p m 8th ACFA meeting @Daegu

  14. Compare muon at CAL/MUD front e+e-→ZH →m+m- bb (Ecm : 300GeV, 500 events) m generated before the CAL 212 events Total Energy : 21.4 GeV(mean) (Max ~ 140 GeV) • generated inside of the CAL 17 events Total Energy : Less than 10 GeV 8th ACFA meeting @Daegu

  15. Pion leakage from Calorimeter Pion single beam energy scan from 2 ~ 300 GeV Number of pion events tagged at the MUD front 20 GeV : 11 events 300 GeV : 680 events Total energy measured at the MUD front [GeV] Number of pions leaked from CAL increase from the incident energy grater than 20 GeV 8th ACFA meeting @Daegu

  16. Pion leak from the Calorimeter Pion single beam energy scan from 2 to 300 GeV 20GeV Low energy pi increase at high energy part. 20GeV Number of pions at MUD front (pion ID checked by PDG code) Mean energy of Pions at MUD front (pion ID checked by PDG code) 8th ACFA meeting @Daegu

  17. Muon finding methods (Under construction) m Search MIP peak in the MUD (threshold > 10MeV) All layer passing event required MUD Check mother track CAL(Front/Out) Track matching with tracker CAL Under construction ! Tracker 8th ACFA meeting @Daegu

  18. Summary and next steps Current status... • We finish the installation of MUD geometry, • Magnetic field to the Jupiter (MC G4 generator) • Under construction of the Satellites analysis part. Next step... • BUG fix should be improved. • MUD change to the tracker base • Muon self tracking in MUD and connect to tracker • Muon ID efficiency by finding methods. 8th ACFA meeting @Daegu
