  1. Welcome to Ms. Clubb’sclass! We’re going to have a great semester!

  2. As your teacher, I solemnly promise… • To always listen when students are speaking. • To provide help in any way I can. • To protect my students to the best of my ability. • To help you make friends and communicate with your classmates. • To create tests and assignments that will apply to real-life, and will help you learn more. • To try my best to be understanding when students have a problem. • To help you have fun while learning!

  3. But I need your help… • There are a few rules we need to remember to obey while we are in this class. • They will always be posted on the bulletin board by the door, in case you forget what they are. • It is up to you to make this classroom peaceful and conducive to learning. Let’s make this a great semester!

  4. Ms. Clubb’s class rocks! The Rules • Take responsibility for your own work and actions. • Be in the room and ready to begin working by the time class starts. • Respect your teacher and your classmates. • Raise your hand before speaking; do not shout or try to speak over anyone else. • Ask Ms. Clubb whenever you need help or have a question. Your teacher is here to help! • Be honest. If you make a mistake, we will find a way to correct it together. English is great!

  5. If you have a question, comment, or concern that you don’t feel comfortable expressing in person: • There will be a bulletin board in the room that is divided into two parts. On the left half, feel free to post notes explaining what you think Ms. Clubb needs to improve. You do not have to put your name on the note, and you can post the note before or after class. • On the right side, post notes that are positive. You can compliment your classmates, say what you liked about a lesson, or offer encouragement for other students or Ms. Clubb. This is your place to exercise your free speech. Be appropriate, but remember this is a safe space where you can talk about how you feel!

  6. Here is what the bulletin board might look like: Kim Li helped me study. Thank you, Kim Li! I wish we had more speaking assignments so we could practice our speech more often. The lesson on gerunds was really good and a lot of fun! Yesterday’s test was so hard! Will we have any extra credit assignments? Keep up the good work! We’re almost done with the semester! Our textbook is difficult to understand. Concerns, complaints, questions Positive notes and encouragement

  7. We all know how important safety is in the classroom, So… • When you get up, please remember to always push in your chairs. • The classroom door will lock whenever it is shut. This keeps strangers from being able to walk into the classroom unannounced. • If you get hurt, tell Ms. Clubb immediately, so she can send you to the nurse. • No running or rough play in the classroom. This causes accidents. • Fire extinguishers are located by the door. We will have a lesson on how to use them.

  8. If you need to talk to Ms. Clubb, you can do any of the following: • Send an email to sugarplum1214@hotmail.com. Explain what you would like to discuss and how you would prefer to be contacted. • Call Ms. Clubb at 573-776-8275. If you need to leave a voicemail, be sure to state what you need and how you can be contacted. • Make an appointment during Ms. Clubb’s office hours. They are posted on the door of the office. Your teacher is here to help you. Feel free to contact Ms. Clubb whenever you need to.

  9. Let’s have a great semester! This is the beginning of your next step toward graduation!
