  1. EFA 2015 Review Update June 13th, 2014

The scope is… As per the UNESCO EFA guidelines (2013), the review focuses on three interrelated strategic objectives or components: • Assess Rwanda’s progress towards the achievement of the six EFA goals and Rwanda’s additional goal on HIV/AIDS in education. (What has been achieved?) • Review the implementation of national strategies to achieve the six EFA Goals and Rwanda’s additional goal on HIV/AIDs in schools. (How has progress towards the EFA goals been achieved?) • Determine current educational challenges and the future education agenda. (What are the current challenges for education?)

Chapters • Chapter 1: Introduction • Chapter 2: EFA Action Plan 2003 • Chapter 3: Goal 1 ECCE • Chapter 4: Goal 2 UPE > Secondary • Chapter 5: Goal 3 Learning needs for youth (TVET/Life Skills) • Chapter 6: Goal 4 Adult Literacy • Chapter 7: Goal 5 Gender equity and equality • Chapter 8: Goal 6 Quality in education • Chapter 9: Goa 7 HIV/AIDS in education • Chapter 10: EFA Strategies (12) • Chapter 11: Challenges and Recommendations

Consultation… • Desk review of relevant documents • Different groups and individuals have been consulted by the consultants • First draft submitted first week of June. • Groups and individuals asked to read chapters and provide feedback. • Presentation and discussion at the JRES. • Focus group discussion with the DEOs (20 June) • Second draft will have wider review followed by validation meeting in July with stakeholders. • Photographs

  5. Editorial Group Dr. Claudien, Andrew and 3-4 other people to work through Draft 1, page by page, to edit the content in preparation for Draft 2. A morning’s work with a projector and laptop. Rearranging, cutting, inserting, rewording… This will bring good karma to you, lots of FUN + Hugh’s snacks!!
