  1. Project: IEEE P802.15 Working Group for Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs)‏ Submission Title: [Coexistence assurance summary] Date Submitted: [22 January, 2009] Source: [James P. K. Gilb] Company [SiBEAM, Inc.] Address [555 N. Mathilda, Suite 100, Sunnyvale, CA 94085] Voice: [408-245-3120], FAX: [408-245-3120], E-Mail: [last name at ieee dot org] Re: [P802-15-3c-D00_Draft_Amendment.pdf] Abstract: [Overview of the 802.15.3c coexistence assurance document.] Purpose: [Provide an overview of the 802.15.3c coexistence assurance document.] Notice: This document has been prepared to assist the IEEE P802.15. It is offered as a basis for discussion and is not binding on the contributing individual(s) or organization(s). 2. Dr. James P. K. Gilb, SiBEAM Type of devices • Video source/sinks • TX power 10 dBm • Antenna gain 13 dB • Non-line-of-sight (NLOS) channel over a 5 m range. • PC/laptops • TX power 10 dBm • Antenna gain 10 dB • line-of-sight (LOS)/ NLOS over 2-3 m. • Handheld • TX power 0 dBm • Antenna gain of 10 dBi • LOS channel over 1 m.

  3. Dr. James P. K. Gilb, SiBEAM Scenario 1: Video streaming WPAN traffic is video streaming, vary DEV2 position Criteria is pass/fail once BER > 10-4

  4. Dr. James P. K. Gilb, SiBEAM Scenario 1 results • Conditions: • PNC1 and DEV1 have completed beam forming • DEV2's antenna is pointed directly at TV • Time utilization is 100% for both networks

  5. Dr. James P. K. Gilb, SiBEAM Mitigation When DEV1/PNC1 detect interference, beam forming will select an alternate path, using LQI to find a better path

  6. Dr. James P. K. Gilb, SiBEAM Scenario 2: Data transmission Both networks are streaming data, vary PNC2 position Criteria is throughput

  7. Dr. James P. K. Gilb, SiBEAM Scenario 2 results • Conditions: • Assume CCI behaves like AWGN • Steepness of SNR curve causes sharp fall off in throughput • Time utilization is 100% for both networks
