  3. SC8.1: Identify ice service/national Science representatives for all member nations. SC8.2: Each national member to be requested to give a brief summary of Top Research priorities and plans to facilitate identification of complementary &/or common activities and areas for collaboration. SC8.3: Develop a process for rotation of Committee Co-Chair - Dean Flett stepped down, Clemente-Colón stepped in as Co-chair. - Accepted procedure: Rotation with a change every 2 meetings Co-Chairs from Canada/USA and Europe(+) Overlap in rotation (3 meetings per Co-chair) Responsible: All Target Date(s): IICWG-8 Status: Closed Applied Science and Research IICWG VIII Action Items

  6. SC8.4: Identify Lars Anders replacement as Co-Chair. - Anette Jönson proposed and accepted. Responsible: All Target Date(s): IICWG-8 Status: Closed Applied Science and Research IICWG VIII Action Items

  7. SC8.5: Conduct the 2nd Modelling/Data Assimilation Workshop in 2008. - Successful workshop conducted on 15-17 October in Copenhagen with 24 participants. Responsible: Tom Carrieres and Leif Toudal Pedersen Target Date(s): IICWG-8 Status: Closed Applied Science and Research IICWG VIII Action Items

SC8.6: Coordinate SAR multi-band studies and applications development. - Preliminary studies underway within NAIS. - Chalmers/SMHI/AWI Baltic Experiments continue. - Increased data and results exchanges needed. SC8.7: Follow-up and participate in the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) Sea Ice activities. - Søren Andersen left as lead of the Sea Ice Subgroup. - Rasmus Tonboe, DMI served as short-term replacement - Permanent replacement needs to be identified. SC8.8: Provide focused activities and develop collaborations on improving satellite detection and monitoring of icebergs. - IICWG Iceberg Session proposed - Multi-band/multi-pol investigations underway.
