  2. From the ipod to the phonautograph • The first musical device that was able to record sounds was the “phonautograph” created in 1857 by Leon Scott de Martinville. This device was not able to reproduce sound signals, but Emilie Berliner adapted this device into the “gramophone”, which was basically a disc player. In 1891, Edison came out with the phonograph, which was more technologically advanced than the gramophone. A few years later in 1963 Phillips introduced the audio cassette, which continues to be manufactured today. Next came the Walkman, which was a portable audio cassette player created by Sony .In 1987, Sony developed the MP3 player and eventually Apple came out with the iPod in 2001. That is how music technology has advanced in the past 50 years.

  3. The advancement of the ipod • I think the next music advancement will be wireless earplugs that have a little radio inside them. The right has earplug will the play button and the left earplug will have the pause button. It has all of the radio stations available. It also is voice command. You can change the channel you are on by saying the channel like 102.1. You cannot fast-forward any songs the song you are on you can not skip it like Pandora. I believe that this will be the next advancement of IPod.

  4. The creators of pandora • Will Glaser, Jon Kraft, and Tim Wesergen created Pandora. Their idea was to bring different kinds of music together i. They created 400 specifications for each song that is recorded from what the listener likes to listen to. The company was able release it for licensing of Pandora to third parties like AOL and Best Buy for recommendation for music, it did not make a lot of success and nearly failed. In Mach 2004, savage Beast Technologies received funding from Walden Venture Capital’s ,Larry Marcus on help with building its own consumer facing service Savage Beast Technology was Pandora Media and launched Pandora Radio on July 21, 2005. The Music Genome Project is one of the core technologies currently used by Pandora to play music for Internet users based on the listeners preferences. There are million’s listeners, and the radio has become a great app to use on smart phones,Iphones, Android, and windows phones.

  5. The beginning of garage band • GarageBand works on the OS, X, iOS. The first stable release was on March 20, 2013. On March 2, 2011, Apple announced a version of GarageBand for the iPad. It is vey similar to the version for OS X. Music can be created by using the on-screen instruments, which are drums, a sampler and many “smart instruments”. It also acts as a multitrack recoding studio with Stompbox effects and guitar amps. Songs can be emailed or sent to an iTunes Library. It is now available for $4.99.

  6. Garage band updates • On Mach 7, 2012, Apple updated GarageBand to 1.2; they added support for the third-generation iPad. The update introduced the new Smart Strings instruments, which is a string orchestra of 1st and 2nd violins, violas, celli, and bass capable of playing notes legato, staccato, and pizzicato. Additionally, Apple also added synthesizers to the Smart Keyboard and Smart Bass instruments. It also added a note editor, which allows users to fine-tune note placement and length and the ability to upload songs to Facebook, YouTube, and SoundCloud, as well as the ability to upload projects to iCloud. It also included a feature called Jam Session, which allowed 4 iPhones, iPod touches, and/or iPads to play at the same time. On May 1, 2012 GarageBand was updated to 1.2.1, providing minor bug fixes.

  7. Using Pandora in the classroom part1 • Pandora can help keep students from talking because the music keeps them focused and attentive. Students could use Pandora to make their own stations and improve their musical tastes by discovering the music that is suggested for them.  Students will surprisingly discover music they like if they are just introduced to it.  Students could then do a project where discuss the choices of music they like. Music has be proven that inorder to improvechildrensstudy habits and attention, as well as organizing information. Classical music on Pandora can often help students concentrate. Music is becoming a daily part of kid’s lives because it is a fun way to learn. Social Studies could have students use Pandora to research music from different time periods.

  8. Using Pandora in the classroom part2 • Pandora allows users to easily search for music based on decades. Another feature of Pandora is that several of the songs to see the lyrics.  En allows you to see the lyrics. English teachers could use this feature to teach students about the meanings behind the music and the poetic substance of the music.  Elementary teachers can use Pandora as well, because several of theKidz Bop and music for elementary age students is available on Pandora as well. Government teachers might be interested in discussing the Internet Radio Fairness Act, which was introduced to congress. It’s a great opportunity to prepare students for the real world and is a relevant lesson for students.  Teachers in the field of Business and Marketing would find it useful to read to Pandora Blog because they can learn more about how their business works.
