  1. Forming Plural Nouns Correctly Rules #1-12 Language Txbk: 397-400 You are assigned some plural rules to teach to the rest of your table. You must come up with a “Notes Page” for the rules you are teaching them. Be sure to add examples, exceptions, and an exercise practice for your group to do. Time Limit – 15 minutes!

  2. Rules for Pluralsnouns p. 397 -399 1. For most nouns, add s (boy/boys, table/tables). 2. For nouns ending in s, x, z, ch, or sh, add es (glasses, foxes, arches, wishes), 3. For nouns ending in y when the y is preceded by a vowel, add s (turkeys, attorneys). 4. For nouns ending in y when the y is preceded by a consonant, change the y to /' and then add es (cities, spies). 5. For some nouns ending f or fe, add s; others change the f or fe to v and add es (roofs, beliefs, scarves, leaves). 6. For nouns ending in o when the o is preceded by a vowel, add s (patios, rodeos). 7. For nouns ending in o when the o is preceded by a consonant, add es (tomatoes, heroes). For some nouns that end in o when the o is preceded by a vowel, just add an s. This is particularly true of words that are connected to music (solos, altos, sopranos). 8. For some nouns, the plural form is a new word: teeth, mice, oxen.
