Our vision • Our Academy exists to empower people by developing compassionate, inclusive leaders at every point in the system, and a culture of great evidence-based leadership. • We equip current leaders to be more effective today. We grow the next generation to lead. • We promote leadership mind-sets, helping people apply their skills in working together, innovating and making change happen.

How do we do this • Driving Organisational Development. • Growing and managing inclusive talent throughout the system. • Delivering a wealth of structured learning. • Bringing people from different parts of the system together through our networks. • Providing coaching, mentoring and learning on the job. • Enabling conversations that lead to change. • Our membership mirrors the system enabling us to meet complex demands by co-creating the exact intervention each group needs.   4. Compassionate inclusive Leadership • Inclusion Network meeting presentations on benefits of equality champions and executive buy in. • Compassionate Inclusive Leadership programme commenced in November with Action Learning set held in December. • Our inclusion lead has joined the Ahead Group, a regional inclusion group for HEE. Ensure the presence of inclusive and compassionate leadership knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours at all levels of health and care.

  5. Talent Management • Working alongside the national team to produce System and organisational talent toolkit blueprint. • TVWLA working with Kent, Surrey and Sussex and SW leadership Academy to design a joint TM system event. • 2nd TM Capacity Development Programme commenced in December running until March. • Self-discovery workshop development opportunity to explore self and career journeys - two cohorts planned for January and February. Programme now open to BAME staff.

  6. Leader Development • “In Place leadership Innovation fund” established. TVWLA is now working closely with the successful bidders. • AS part of the Leadership Development Endorsement Project, TVWLA participated in the NHS Leadership Academy’s engagement and consultation event to develop the NHS-wide development quality framework. • NHS Leadership Academy to fully fund 2018 GMTS intake. • Increase in organisations applying to host GMTS placements.

  7. Bucks/Oxon/Berks W STP Activity • Flexible work support plan developed for work STP stream leads. Enablers from leadership centre tasked to support digital work stream and workforce project. • Considering commissioning shared leadership programme to support nurse retention work stream. • General Practice leadership programme co-designed with CEPN started in November. Frimley • Senior Leaders Development Programme has commenced. • 2020 Leadership programme cohort one completed in December, cohort two starts in January. • Providing consultancy on OD plan for GP transformation work stream, and digital work stream lead on programme for IT staff. • Exploring commissioning a Coaching Skills for Care Home Managers programme. Dorset • OD leads meeting to review leadership development stocktake. • TVWLA TM management report presented. Agreement to submit a system TM bid for approval by SLT. • Collaboration on development of the coaching capacity of the STP footprint and designing an event to support existing coaches. Hampshire and IOW • Developed and gained senior level agreement for phase one of STP • OD plan, currently developing phase two. • Developing bespoke programmes for Hampshire Hospitals and Hampshire local delivery system. • OD half day for Portsmouth, PSEH and the SE Hampshire ACS • Leadership team.

  8. Local Interventions & Membership • Co-facilitated south region OD workshop for senior leaders and teams. • Second Cohort of GP Nurse leadership Development Programme commenced in October. • Continuing to support the Southampton GP liaison scheme. • Supporting the delivery of the N Hants CCG Primary Care Strategy ‘Leadership in Action (LiA)’. • Working in a consultancy capacity with West Hampshire CCG and Wheelchair Services in relation to team dynamics and performance. • Planning the second cohort of the national programme for Knowledge Services Senior Managers. • Bespoke teaching sessions on buddying for UHS and the John Radcliffe in Oxford. • In December we were delighted to support a workshop for Freedom to Speak up Guardians across the region. The workshop focused on skills needed to hold challenging conversations. TVWLA team members continue to sit on various steering groups, several are coaches, coach supervisors , mentors, HLM 360 feedback facilitators and MBTI Practitioners. We continue to attend and support many conferences and summits in our Region, in the South region and at a national level.
