  1. The Jamaica School Administrative System (JSAS) Software A Management Information Tool (Customized for Jamaican schools)

  2. Introduction to JSAS JSAS is the administrative software developed by the New Horizons for Primary Schools Project. JSAS has been implemented in the 71 NHP project schools and will be used as the main data collection tool for the Expanding Education Horizons Project.

  3. JSAS as a management tool: • Stores data • Generates reports • Allows faster access to information • Can be used as a diagnostic tool

  4. How will JSAS support the Project • Improved school management • By producing all the information required by the project for each school • Track and report schools’ attendance patterns • Monitor performance – overall and by gender • Monitor students’ performance in key tests • Grade 1 Readiness Test • Grade 3 Diagnostic Test • Grade 4 Literacy Test • Grade Six Achievement Tests (GSAT)

  5. Which reports will be required? • Daily, monthly, termly and yearly attendance summaries • Attendance patterns compared by day and gender • Class lists • Grade 1 Readiness Inventory Test Report • Grade 3 Diagnostic Test Report • Charts showing students trends in various tests

  6. Role of the School Management Team • Training – JSAS and Computer Repairs • Technical support • Off-site support and resource persons • Networking where possible and necessary

  7. What is expected of Principals? • Ensure that JSAS is effectively used in schools • School information is kept up to date • Submit required reports • Analyze charts and reports produced and take appropriate measures

  8. Analyzing Data • JSAS produces charts and graphs • Attendance Patterns • Examination Results • Graphs and charts are colour coded by • Gender • Mastery levels • Sessions
