Housekeeping • Enable your java settings by: • Go to Tools->Options-> click on the “Advanced” tab. Match the following: • If you have pop-up blocking software turned on, allow pop-ups from this site http://collage.csp.edu • If a security warning pops up, click “Always Run” or “Grant Always” • Click OK to Log into the Live 2005 Web Site project
Collage Homepage • Two tabs are visible; HOME and CONTENT • The HOME tab is designated for workflow processes. • The CONTENT tab is where you will contribute your web content. We will only be using this tab.
Content Contribution • Expanded Navigation SS • Web Address: http://www.csp.edu/kinesiology • URL Naming Convention • A new folder appends to www.csp.edu/kinesiology/folder_name • Each main folder needs an index file to default to
Pre-Made Folders • Banner_Photos • Navigation • Images Pre-Made Files • /Kinesiology/index • /Kinesiology/Banner_Photos/default • /Kinesiology/Navigation/default
Toolbar Options • New Folder • Folders can be used as storage (Documents, Images) • Or used as a sub-directory to store multiple web pages of the same category • New Document • Web page • Upload • Upload PDF’s, Word .doc, Excel .xls, Images
Creating a New Folder • Select the Folder on the left hand pane in which you want to create the new folder in(Kinesiology) • Click the “New Folder” button from the toolbar • Name your folder and click “OK”
Uploading Items • Click on “Upload” from the toolbar • Click on the “Browse” button to search for your desired item • Select your item and click “OK”

Creating a New Document • Click on the “New Document” button from the toolbar • Enter the name of your webpage and click “OK”

Contribution Techniques • To return to the next line press Shift+Enter • Paste content into Notepad before you paste into Collage to strip the formatting • Take advantage of the tools • Save your work often
Setting Metadata Name: This field will be the title of your document and will appear in the top left corner of the internet browser. • Click on the “Metadata” button from the toolbar Keywords: In this field you will want to enter in descriptive words about your webpage. The keywords are what search engines (Google) look for. Navigation: If you would like to use your default navigation file for this webpage select “default”. If you entered custom navigation for this webpage click “custom”.
Exiting a file • When you are done editing your page, click “Exit” from the toolbar • Click “Yes” to save changes • This also checks-in the file so other editors have access to it
Editing a document • Left-click on the black arrow next to the file you wish to editand select “Edit”This opens the file in the editor
Creating Links • Internal Link- (everything inside your dept folder) • External Link- (everything outside your dept folder) • Click in your Page Content text area where you want your link to appear. • Click the “Link” button from the toolbar
Links cont. Select the checkbox next to the file you wish to link to • Internal: Enter the desired name of the link. i.e.KHS Homepage Click “OK” when finished.
Links cont. Select the External Tab • External: If your external link already exists, check the box next to it To create a new External Link Enter the desired name of the link. i.e.Academics Click “OK” when finished.
Inserting Images • Click in your Page Content text area where you want your image to appear. • Click on the “Image” button from the toolbar
Images cont. • Click on the desired folder on the left that you want to upload your image to. • Click on the “New Image” button to browse for and insert a new image
Images cont. • Click in your Page Content text area where you want your image to appear. • Click on the “Image” button from the toolbar The image is now uploaded Enter a short description Click “OK” when finished

Inserting Tables • Why would I insert a table? • You will want to insert a table if you want side-by-side layout items. • For example- Text on the side of a photo
Tables cont. • Left-click on the “Tables” button on the toolbarClick on “Insert/Edit Table”
Tables cont. • Enter your desired number of columns and rows • Enter a maximum width of 570. If you make your table wider than 570 it will stretch your webpage. • Choose your border, alignment, padding and spacing • Leave the Background color blank
Tables cont. • Put your cursor inside the table cell to enter your text/image
Editing the Banner Photos • Click on the Banner_Photos folder in the left-hand pane • Click the black arrow next to the file to edit the photos
Editing the Banner Photos • To insert, put your cursor in the image field and click on the “Image” button in the toolbar. Then follow slide 21. • To delete, click on the image and press the delete key • Rules: • The total width of all your banner photos must be 588. • The height of all your banner photos must be 140. • Resize your photos before you upload them into Collage • Banner Photos must be approved by us • Everything in the “Banners” folder is public
Editing the Navigation • Click on the Navigation folder on the left-hand pane • Click the black arrow next to the file to edit the photos
Navigation cont. • Click on the “Link” button in the toolbar to add your Links. • Follow slide 18 for more information • This navigation file is what is used as your default Navigation. When you select “default” navigation as your metadata, this is what will appear.
Approve Assets • In order for your changes to go “Live” you need to approve them. • To approve your assets click on the purple icon under the Version column.
Deploy Process • The website gets deployed twice a day at 12pm and 6pm • Assets have to be checked-in and approved in order to be deployed
