Extrinsic Conditions are caused by the complications caused by the tissues and organs that are present outside the lungs, it includes some neurological conditions. Types of disease that cause extrinsic restrictive lung disease are as follows- • Pleural effusions, or the build-up of excess fluid between tissue layers surrounding the lungs • Scoliosis or twisting of the spine • Neuromuscular disease or conditions, such as Lou Gehrig’s disease ALS, multiple scoliosis, and Muscular dystrophy. • Obesity • Intermittent muscle weakness • Malignant tumors • Rib damage, especially fractures • Ascites, or abdominal swelling connected with liver scarring or Cancer • Diaphragm paralysis • Kyphosis, or hunching of the upper back • Diaphragmatic hernia

People generally experience shortness of breath when suffering from restrictive lung disease. However, there are pulmonary tests that help in the diagnosis of Restrictive Lung Disease. During a pulmonary function testing, a person is treated with forced air. This air is pushed via a mouthpiece worn by the patient. Meanwhile, the machine connected with this mouthpiece monitors and records the lung’s activities. Pulmonary testing helps in finding out whether the disease is Restrictive lung diseaseor obstructive lung disease also, about their severity. These are some points about the lung condition known as restrictive lung disease.
