What causes QuickBooks error code 61? • The followings are the reasons that can trigger QuickBooks error code 61: • The company file (with the .qbw extension) data gets damaged or corrupted. • .ND and .TLG configuration files, which let QuickBooks access the company file, are damaged. What should you do to fix QuickBooks error 61? • Note: Both the solutions we have mentioned below are need to be implemented on the server computer (the computer that hosts the company file).
Solution 1) Use Verify Data and Rebuild Data tools to repair the damaged company file data • Open QuickBooks Desktop, go to the File menu, and then hover over the Utilities option. • From the Utilities side menu, choose the Verify Data option and then hit the OK button. • If the Verify Data tools shows the status “Your data has lost the integrity check” in the result, then you need run the Rebuild Data tool by following the below-mentioned steps: • Again, go to the File menu and hover over the Utilities option. • From the Utilities side menu, choose the Rebuild Data option. • Select the Yes option if you get a message to back up the company file. • Once the tool finishes and shows the message, stating, “Rebuild has completed,” hit the OK button.
Solution 2) Manually rename .ND and .TLG configuration files • At first, close down QuickBooks Desktop if it’s running. • On the keyboard, press Windows + E keys together to open the File Explorer. • Open the folder that contains QuickBooks company files by using the following path: C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks\Company Files • In the folder, look for the .nd file and right-click it. • Choose the Rename option and then add the word “.old” at the end of the filename. • Now, look for the .tlg file and right-click it. • Choose the Rename option and then add the word “.old” at the end of the filename.
