Press the Windows key on the keyboard to open the Start menu. • Enter “QuickBooks Desktop” into the given search space. • Right-click the icon of QuickBooks Desktop and select the Run as administrator option. • When prompted, type in the QuickBooks admin password. • Press the Windows and E keys simultaneously on the keyboard to open the Window File Explorer. • Navigate to the following path: C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks\Company Files. • Find the file with the .qbw extension in the folder and right-click on it.

Hold the Alt key on the keyboard and select the Open option from the drop-down list. • On the No Company Open window, go to the Help menu located at the top menu bar. • From the drop-down menu, select the Update QuickBooks Desktop option. • Go to the Options tab and click on the Mark All button. • Move on to the Update Now tab, checkmark the Reset Update checkbox, and click on the Get Updates option. • Exit out the No Company Open window. • Restart QuickBooks Desktop and click on the Yes button when it asks for your permission to install the latest updates.

Solution 2) Manually rename the QuickBooks ND and TLG configuration files • Press the Windows and E keys simultaneously on the keyboard to open the Window File Explorer. • Navigate to the following path: C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks\Company Files. • Find the QuickBooks configuration TLG file in the folder and right-click on it. • From the drop-down list, select the Rename option. • Add the word “.OLD” at the end of the filename. • Find the QuickBooks configuration ND file in the folder and right-click on it. • From the drop-down list, select the Rename option. • Add the word “.OLD” at the end of the filename.
