Solution 2) Use the administration account to update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release • Open the Windows Start menu. • Enter “QuickBooks” into the search column • In the search results, right-click the icon of QuickBooks Desktop • Select the Run as administrator option. • Type in the administrator password of QuickBooks as prompted. • Press Windows + E keys on the keyboard to open the Windows File Explorer. • Go to the folder containing the company files and right-click on the .QBW file. Note: the Company Files contains the QuickBooks company file that you can access by navigating to the following path: C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks\Company Files.
On the keyboard, press & hold the Alt key and then select the Open option. • On the No Company Open window, go to the Help menu at the top menu bar. • Select the Update QuickBooks Desktop option from the drop-down menu. • Go to the Options tab and Click on the Mark All button. • Move on to the Update Now tab, choose the Reset Update checkbox, and then click on the Get Updates button. • Reopen QuickBooks Desktop and click on the Yes option located at the update installer prompt.
