Things you will need • Audacity • http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ • Windows Moviemaker • Internet Access • CD-R • Podcasting headphones/microphones
Student’s Writing Memories Stories Poems Journal entries Core writing assignments
Project at a Glance • Record writing (save project). • Select and import music (export as a wav). • Scan Pictures. • Import pictures into moviemaker. • Import final audacity file. • Edit. • Burn to CD.
Step OneRecording • Practice • Have students read their writing to a partner a couple times. • Set a deadline. • Have students listen to each other’s as they finish.
Step TwoMusic • Select background music. • www.freeplaymusic.com • www.royaltyfreemusic.com • Save music file • Import music file into Audacity project. • Open project. On the toolbar, go to project, import audio. Browse to drive and select music file.
Editing • Play the music and reading together. • Want to be sure the music doesn’t overpower the voice. • Adjust the volume on the tracks. • Use the volume selections on the left of each track. • Export as a wav. • Go to File • Choose export as a wav
Step ThreePut it all together! • Import pieces into moviemaker. • Open Windows Moviemaker • Under Capture Video, choose import picture. Go to file and select. • Under capture video, choose import audio. Browse to wav file and select. • Drag files from collection window down to timeline.
Final StepEdit and Burn to CD • Play the project • May need to adjust music to length of reading. • Go to finish movie and burn to cd.
Optional Touches • Add a Title/Dedication. • Add Credits. • Kid Designed CD covers.
