The Project - 1 • Identify 3 Schools, one per faculty, where the need for a subject area-specific careers Blackboard resource has been identified • Run 3 student focus groups • Secure the cooperation of one named academic in each School • Marine Technology in the School of Marine Science and Technology • - Dr Julia Race and Vicky Coulson • Biomedical Sciences in the School of Biomedical Sciences • - Dr Lindsey Ferrie • Politics in the School of Geography, Politics and Sociology • - Dr Thom Brooks

The Project – part 2 • Identify the 3 subject areas where the need for a • pre-entry PAOD careers resource has been identified • Run 3 student focus groups • Secure the cooperation of one named academic in each School • Computing Science in the School of Computing Science • - Dr Steve Riddle • Psychology in the School of Biomedical Science • - Dr Val Tuck • Sociology in the School of Geography, Politics and Sociology • - Dr Lisa Garforth

Methodology • The work be completed by an information officer. • Run 6 student focus groups to gain feedback from students in the relevant subject areas to act as ‘critical friends’. • Subject-specific resource in blog format using Wordpress. • PAOD resource as pdf for School to print handouts. • Resources

Evaluation and Feedback • Usage stats from Blackboard (as of 12 December 2012) • On Shore and at Sea – 1479 (page views) • Your Future in Politics – 1340 • Biomed and Beyond – 2588 • In semester 2: • We will create a student survey to invite feedback and to measure satisfaction and impact • Each academic link will survey personal tutors and ask for feedback • School staff will be surveyed about the Open Day resources
