Those Terrible Dust Bowl Days It took place back in the 1930s And it was called the dust bowl days Folks tried to scrape out a livingAs dust storms left their world in a hazeThere was a drought in OklahomaDust storms took over their homeNo food or jobs could be foundThey had to pack up and begin to roamThey couldn’t seal their homes enoughThe dust continued to sift throughCan you just imagine what it would be likeIf this were to happen to you?

  3. Some starved and froze in the winterFolks lost new babies in the coldIt was a nightmarish time in historySuch sad, sad stories later were told It is almost impossible to imagine It continues today to amaze Thinking about what folks went throughIn those terrible dust bowl days! By Marilyn Lott

My son carries his frosty bottleof orange Nehi popwhile my daughter hugs her dollyclose to her chest. We struggle, nomads fightingthe swirling whorls of sandtrying to keep the dustout of our eyes.

  6. When the wind settles againI can see the barren landssurrounding our tiny town -Hopeful skeletons. The farmers playing checkersin front of the gas stationgrumble about the price of cornand their souls.
