Today is his last day. And all the mailboxes along his route are filled with surprises.

  4. Kevin Henkes • Kevin Henkes was born on November 27, 1960, in Wisconsin. When he was very young he took art lessons at a museum by his house. Kevin Henkes became an author and an illustrator when he was nineteen years old. He says many of his ideas come directly from his childhood. • His father was a mail carrier. That's where he got the idea for "Good-bye, Curtis." • "I've loved drawing for as long as I can remember." • "Most of my books are about things I know: getting lost, adjusting to a new sibling, making new friends, starting school."
