  1. Quickwrite #4 • Read over your answers to the post reading questions from LOTM. • Based on your reading and analysis, which of the 6 traits do you think is Mark Twain’s strength? • Provide an example.

  2. Quickwrite #4 (5 minutes) • Write 5 specific adjectives that describe you as a five year old and 5 specific adjectives that describe you now.

  3. Reflective Composition • Read and discuss the college application essay prompts. • Review/Discuss the graphic organizer • Class Model • E:\English 11\Reflective Composition\graphic organizer.doc

  4. Writing On Demand – 30 minutes • Choose a prompt • Prewrite/Organize your thoughts • Compose 1st draft in your writer’s notebook • If you finish early, highlight all plural and possessive nouns in your writing.

  5. Quickwrite #7 • Read over your answers to the post reading questions from “MSLA.” • Based on your reading and analysis, which of the 6 traits do you think is Maya Angelou’s strength? • Provide an example.

  6. Quickwrite #9 • Out of the two compositions you have completed, explain which one is more appealing to you at this point. • Who do you think would be interested in reading your writing? In other words, who is your audience.

Revising to add figurative language mini lesson • Revise two of the following sentence by adding sensory details or figurative language • The sun looked beautiful. • The medicine tastes bad. • The shortstop’s throw was bad. • From the collision came a terrible sound. WHEN YOU ARE COMPOSING YOUR REFLECTIVE COMPOSITION, ADD FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE TO IMPROVE WORD CHOICE.
