Our Mission and Vision at C-A • Our Vision: Coxsackie-Athens inspires learners to achieve extraordinary success. • Our Mission: The Coxsackie-Athens community works collaboratively to create personalized learning opportunities. We develop self-directed college and career ready students who are prepared to succeed in our global society.

District-Wide Goals: 2016 Graduation Rate: • At least 93% of students will graduate • 100% of students will have a plan for college and career Mastery and Passing: • The overall proficiency rate on the NYS grades 3-8 tests and Regents exams will be either 90% or increase by 15% from 2013 performance levels. • The overall mastery rate on NYS grades 3-8 and Regents exams will increase by 12% from 2013 performance levels. Participation: • 100% of students will participate each year in at least one community service activity. College and Career Ready: • At least 90% of K-4 students will at or above grade level in reading, as measured by Fountas and Pinnell. • 100% of 8th graders will enter high school with a plan for success. • 100% of graduates will have earned three college credits or a career technical endorsement.

High School Building Target #1 The total amount of students passing and achieving mastery on Regents exams will increase 6%, from 78% passing in 2013 to 84% passing in 2014; and achieving mastery 29% in 2013 to 35% in 2014: 2013: 296 exams attained mastery (29%) 802 exams attained passing (78%) 2014 Target: 360 exams will attain mastery (35%) 864 exams will attain passing (84%)

High School Building Target #2 The total number of students passing and achieving mastery for their final course averages will increase 6%; from 84% passing in 2013 to 90% passing in 2014; and 55% achieving mastery in three or more of their courses in 2013 to 61% in 2014. 2013: 84% of students passed all of their courses. (437 students) 55% of students achieved mastery in three or more courses (285 students) 2014 Target: 90% of students will pass all of their courses. (450 students) 61% of students achieved mastery in three of more courses (319 students)

Some Strategies: • Strategy # 1 Improve student attendance and reduce late arrivals to school and class. • 111 students (21%) absent more than 10% of school days. • 83 students (16%) late to school more than 10% of school days. • Strategy #2 Develop and implement regular and frequent formative assessments which are aligned with the state assessments and use available time and structures to regularly review performance collaboratively.

Daily Routine • 7:30-7:45 Arrival: All students in the cafeteria. • 7:45-7:55 Transition to first period. • Bell Schedule the same as the middle school. • Daily Announcements during Period 1 (on website) • All classes are 42 minutes long (except blocked courses) • Lunches are 30 minutes • 2:26: General Dismissal…first buses • 2:30-3:10: Period 9; Extra help with teachers • 3:25: Second round of buses

Assigned Lunch Time • Students should attend ONLY the lunch that you are assigned to…no other students may be in the cafeteria (including from study halls or a classroom) • Seniors may use Senior Courtyard during assigned lunch • Only bathroom available is the one immediately next to cafeteria • Students who would like to use the library, computer lab, etc. at this time must present a pre-signed pass from Ms. Brook. You need to have gotten that pass from her on before your lunch (either before school or during a previous study hall). Sign-in, Sign-out process. • Microwaves available…please keep clean

  16. Study Halls • Academic Environment • Always report first for attendance • Pre-signed pass to leave or supervisor to call ahead to location to confirm…sign-in, sign-out, always have pass. • No cafeteria • Counselors will be in this week to share out classes available.

  17. Ninth Period • Each Day: 2:30-3:10 • Late bus leaves at 3:25 • HUGE opportunity for extra-help/academic assistance • Clubs and Activities • Only those students directly involved with a teacher (extra-help, club/activity) may be in the building. • Passes for late busses will be given to you by the teacher you are staying with only.

Student Parking • Available to Seniors and Juniors. • Free of Charge in front of building. • Assigned, numbered spots…all students must register. • Sept 5th–Sept 19th : OPEN parking in front. • During 9th periods, please pick up registration materials from Main Office before OR after school only. • All materials DUE Thurs. Sept 19th. • Parking permits distributed on Friday, Sept 20th. • Assigned parking begins Monday, Sept 23rd

  20. Senior Courtyard • Available to Seniors only • Beginning Monday, Sept 9th • Available during assigned Study Halls and Lunches • Privilege = Responsibility • Self-monitor/keep clean/No underclassmen • Be respectful of the classes around the courtyard

If for some reason you are not taking a social studies class this year just stop in during a free period and have your picture taken.
