  6. Amphenol Ltd - UK Operations We try to source locally however we find it difficult to find skilled and semi-skilled employees and for many senior roles we have had to look outside the region. Are we and other local industries not making ourselves known sufficiently to educational establishments or are educational establishment unaware or unable to interact with us ?

  8. Amphenol Ltd - UK Operations • Work Experience • Summer 2008 Amphenol took on 11 school leavers for work experience. • worked in several areas of the front office. • Not filing and photocopying – actual projects.

  9. Amphenol Ltd - UK Operations • Liaison with Local Education Authority • A retired employee attends Local Education seminars and presents talks. • Representing the views of Amphenol and representing the interests of local manufacturing in Kent.

  10. Amphenol Ltd - UK Operations • Liaison with Schools • Amphenol hosted a teacher conference on diplomas in 2008. • We have arranged trips from schools to visit a working environment (reliant on Health & Safety compliance).

  11. Amphenol Ltd - UK Operations • Apprenticeship • Amphenol currently have two apprentices. • we believe that this is a good way forward to develop new skilled workers.

Amphenol Ltd - UK Operations With the Financial Services sector within the UK in such turmoil and the beginning of renewed interest in manufacturing it is increasingly important that students are prepared for a working environment. Local Education and local businesses need to co-ordinate to provide these opportunities and give the best introduction possible.
