Physical Education Requirements • 2010/2011 School Year • PREPARATION (DRESS CODE) • GRADING • CUTTING CLASS • ABSENCES AND SUSPENSIONS • LATENESS TO CLASS • ELECTRONIC DEVICES • PE MEDICAL EXCUSES
PE/PREPARATION (DRESS CODE) • Any appropriate T-Shirt or Sweatshirt • Athletic shorts or sweat pants***MUST CHANGE FROM SCHOOL ATTIRE! • No hats or jewelry • Refusal to adhere to policies • 1. Warning • 2. Minus 1 pt. • 3. Unprepared (Minus 5 Pts.)
GRADING • (0-70)- Preparation & Participation • (0-10)- Skill: Written or Skill • (0-20)- Effort and Attitude (2pts/week) • Note: Physical Fitness Testing (FITNESSGRAM) will be administered (Pre & Post)
GRADING CONTINUED… • A student will NOT receive passing grade for MP if: • Unprepared (U)/Failure to Participate (O) more than 4 times OR if the final MP Average is below 65
ADDITIONAL POINT DEDUCTIONS • Eating, drinking, or chewing gum (1st-Warning; 2nd and subsequent- minus 1 pt.) • Lack of cooperation (1-2 pt. deduction) 2nd Offense- parent conference • Failure to follow school/dept. rules and regs. (minus 1 pt. per infraction) • Failure to follow dress code (1st- warning; 2nd- minus 1 pt; 3rd-unprepared/minus 5 pts.)
ABSENCES/SUSPENSIONS • Absent more than 5 days during MP must submit make-up work in order to receive credit. • Suspended students (OSS) must be assigned work for every day of suspension. • Failure to complete assigned work will result in a Failure to Participate (O) for each day work is not completed.
EXCESSIVE LATENESS TO CLASS UNEXCUSED • Students arriving late without a pass beyond the changing period will not be permitted to change for class and will receive an unprepared in addition to a late. • If they arrive during the changing period and are prepared for class they will receive a late for class.
EXCUSED LATES TO CLASS • Students arriving late to class with a pass beyond the changing period will be excused with a warning on the first occasion. Any subsequent offense will be considered an unprepared (minus 5 pts.).
ELECTRONIC DEVICES • Electronic devices are NOT permitted in class at any time. Any student found using or possessing an electronic device will be subject to the following consequences: • 1. Warning • 2. Minus 1 pt. (confiscate device – turn into main office) • 3. Unprepared - Minus 5 pts. (confiscate device – turn in to main office)
PE MEDICAL EXCUSES -Medical Excuses are for illness or injury only -Students without a note must change for participation and obtain pass from nurse before being excused (1 Day Only) 1. Parent Note: Accepted 1-2 Days. After 2 days a note is required 2. Doctor Note: All doctors notes must be submitted to nurse for verification and approval
Driver’s Education 2010- 10th Grade • Marking Period 2 • NJ Permit Test Date: 1/19 &1/20 • Counts as a test grade for the class • Blue Cards: If students pass they are required to complete 6 hours of behind the wheel training. • Students receive 2 tries to pass exam
**GDL Laws** • All permit or probationary license holders under age 21 must have a special decal on front and rear license plate. Available at Motor Vehicle Agencies for $4 a pair • Permit holders may not be on the road between 11:01 p.m. and 5 a.m. • May transport only one passenger in the vehicle • May not use a cell phone, IPOD, or any other wireless electronic devices • Must ensure that all vehicle occupants are buckled up
